Gary Ludlow left the world of management
consulting in 1978, and he and his wife, Martha, went into the antiques
business on a full-time basis. We decided to deal
only in American furniture because we really loved the
interpretation that Colonial and Federal craftsmen put on primarily
English designs. Our goal was to deal in the best
antiques we could afford.
For the last 30
years we have been buying the best examples we could find and selling
them from our home and at antique shows around the country. We have
bought and sold hundreds of pieces of William and Mary, Queen Anne,
Chippendale, Hepplewhite, Sheraton and Classical furniture. These were
pieces made by skilled artisans working in large urban cities, such as
Boston and Philadelphia, as well as less formal "country" versions made
in rural areas. We also carry a full line of accessories. Our
clientele includes beginning to advanced collectors, fellow antique
dealers, decorators and museums. We advertise regularly in various tade
publications, such as "Maine Antique Digest. We are members of the prestigious trade
group, the Antique Dealers’ Association of America, Inc.
The ADA’s major objective is to make more professional the
business of buying and selling antiques.
Members are professional dealers who are dedicated to integrity,
honesty and ethical conduct in the antiques trade.
All members are required to guarantee their merchandise in writing
on an invoice that states the approximate age, origin, condition and
restoration, if any.
