A large sampler of silks on a sheer linen ground executed by Frances Baxter, Boston, and dated April 30th, 1804. Frances included sets of alphabets and numbers, including a separate listing of vowels, over a moral verse, all surrounded by an undulating boarder of stars and flowers. A Frances Baxter, born in Massachusetts in 1795, is listed in "American Genealogical Index". Cleaned with only minor thread loss. The sampler is 17" wide and 20" high, matted and in a modern frame that is 22 1/2" wide by 25 1/2" high. ID-5361 Price-$1,450. |
